Every other month or so, BGSC hosts the "It's in our Nature-Walk" event, which is a community engagement project centering on Africana people's engagement with nature + health. Our goal is to hold space for Black women to 1) reclaim their health by resting in nature; 2) observe our interconnection to nature; 3) recognize our visibility + health through national health observances. Our practice of nature-walking is rooted in the indigenous practice of "Mama Earthing," which is akin to the more popular practice of the Japanese traditional practice, Shinrin-Yoku (Forest / Nature Bathing). Each event is co-collaborated with other traditional healers &/or practices. Please check out our Eventbrite page for more details, She Summons Earth & Sky, for more details.
The Omi Women Project assists Black women in managing “self-health” solutions to protect their families with access to safe drinking water, often accessible by tap. Your partnering support will help make a difference in the following ways: how many water kits and filters we can distribute, and the frequency of the educational and wellness services provided.
